CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT – THE LIFESMART PROGRAMME
Character education is about celebrating what’s right with young people while enabling them to develop knowledge and life skills for enhancing ethical and responsible behaviour. Our challenge is to provide youths with the self-esteem, stamina and support they need to survive, be successful and develop into strong, competent, caring and responsible citizens.

Our approach to this is the Life Smart programme that aims to help them navigate the challenges of adolescence. It is a series of practical and skills-based workshops that provide sound advice on how to deal with the most pressing issues of these vital years – issues everybody experiences in their teens. Issues that cover the ups and downs of friendships and love, of learning to believe in oneself and to accept others, to find a direction in their life and relate to their families.
  
MODULE 1 : VALUES, SELF IMAGE AND SELF ESTEEM
 
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Identify your core values and reflect on the importance of these values
• Decide how to live out these values in your relationship with friends, parents and teachers
• Know what motivates you and work on discovering who you are, your purpose in life and what you do best

• Self-image – your mental picture
• Self-esteem – your feelings about yourself
• Identify, clarify and express core values
• Express your values in your daily life
• Things you are proud of, your achievements

MODULE 2 : UNDERSTANDING THE GIFT OF INTUITION
 
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Discover the power of intuition and make full use of it in order to make safer and wiser choices.

• Understand, clarify and value intuition as a life skill
• Exercises to get in touch with intuition
• Express your intuition to others
• Express your values in your daily life
• Listen to your intuition about other people
• Use creative visualisation as a tool to access intuition

MODULE 3 : COMMUNICATING WITH CLARITY AND PASSION
 
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Empower yourself to communicate in a clear and passionate manner.

• Deal with peer pressure and communicate who you are as an individual

MODULE 4 : BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE PEOPLE YOU LIVE WITH

By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Discover ways to build effective relationships with the people who are closest to you, focusing on their strengths and overcoming weaknesses
• Build creative, positive relationships with those around you

• Clarify your own goals.
• Set clear methods for goal setting and visualisation
• Honour your passion for life

MODULE 6 : FACING YOUR FEARS
 
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Find what the core of an issue is and deal with it, rather than living in the past or with anxiety or fear

• Types of fears and anxiety
• Dealing with fears and anxiety : understand the motivations and face the fears
• Connection between fear and anger
• Action plan for dealing with anger and forgiveness
   
   
MODULE 7 : UNDERSTANDING YOUR PERSONALITY PREFERENCES, YOUR BEHAVIOUR STYLES & THEIR IMPACT

• Discover your behaviour preference and how to express this productively
• Look at areas where you need to exercise self-disciple and self-esteem

• Discover your preferences of how you relate to others
• Understand your preferred styles, identify strengths and development needs
• How to interact with and understand other people’s behaviour preference and benefit from your own preference

MODULE 8 : ADDING VALUE (BEING OF VALUE)

By the end of the course, participants will learn to :
• Add value in a positive way for yourself and for those around you

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT – THE SERVICE LEARNING PROGRAMME
Service Learning is a programme whereby students learn to develop projects that can help them to contribute back to the community. It allows students to explore their own potential while working as a team. It will also enable the students to take on leadership positions where they learn their responsibilities and discover what motivates them
